Dear Diary

I want to travel around the world, in the future. First I go to India, and then move to China, next to Mongolia, and go to Russia. After that I go to Kazakhstan, UK, Sweden (hallo Dad!), US, next I move to Canada, and then I go to Sydney, Melbourne (hallo Victoria, I am back to your soil!), New Zealand, and last but not least Indonesia (home sweet home).

Fawwaz presents Maliki

(Idea and Story by Fawwaz Naufal Farid
Edited by Lily Yulianti)

“Mom…do you mind if Maliki stays with us?”

Of course, Mom will only see one child in this house: me. Maliki is invisible. He is my imaginary friend. He was born in the republic of my head. His is 7 years old, just like me.

Maliki always travels to Iraq. Maliki told me that in Iraq he met children who lost their parents, brothers and sisters, homes, and schools.

Maliki has built imaginary schools and playgrounds for Iraqi children. Unfortunately, his imaginary soldiers that he sent to stop the war were not strong enough. That is why war still goes on there.

He comes to my house quite often. We love to play pillow fighting. If I have my breakfast or lunch, he sits in front of me, and also having his imaginary breakfast or lunch. He loves salad.

If I go to school, Maliki goes back to Iraq. He has a magic power from the republic of my head. Sometimes he spends one or two weeks in Iraq if he sees more children lost their parents, brothers and sisters, homes, and schools.

One day Maliki told me, he is going to have a holiday in France.

“When?” I asked him.

“Next week. This is just a short holiday. I want to have some fun there.”

A week later Maliki came back from French. Maliki said he loves Paris. He went to Eifeel Tower, one of my favorite towers in my encyclopedia book. He had lots of fun there. But he does not want to stay there, he goes back to Iraq to meet and play with his friends. He brought hundreds of toys for Iraqi children.

“Where is Maliki?” asked Mom one day.

“Oh, he is still very busy in Iraq. He told me, he flies here and there to give toys to the children,” I replied.

Maliki will visit me in Tokyo, and we are going to make more toys using his power from the republic of my head. More toys, more joys for every child in Iraq.

My holiday

Dear Diary,
On Nov. 7, I had the most exciting day, because I went to Disney Resort. It was fun over there, and I was riding the outerspace rocket and then I went to TOON TOWN . In there i ride Cabco ,this crazy car twisted all around. Next I went to Dumb the flying elephant, and then i went to the most scarriest ride ever it was called The Nightmare Before Christmas. There were so many rides in Disneyland so I stayed there until 10 o`clock at night, when it closed and I had to go home. On that day I took ride in its a small world, space mountain, and etc. Thanks to Om Hidayat, Bu Rina, Tante Widi, and Aura-chan for the woderful holiday. We had a great day..... And of course, I will come back to Disneyland in the near future.

Ramadan and etc

Dear Diary,

Ramadan started on Oct. 5 this year. I had pesantren kilat on Oct 5 -7 and this made me fasting a whole day because all students in my grade did not want to break their fast earlier (although Bu Mulida, my teacher, said children are alowed to do so!). I had fun in pesantren kilat, and I won the 3rd prize for reading Iqra competition, I got a winnie the pooh`s clock. The same present I got last year.

Tokyo is getting cool with a lot of rain. Yesterday, there was an earthquake. Our apartment shaked for a minute. Mom suddenly took me outside and asked me to be calmed down. It was our first earthquake without Dad. Hmmm I wonder there is no eartquake in Sweden, so Dad does not feel scare like we do.

I got two books from library: Inside, Outside, Upside Down, and the other one is The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I am going to read them this week. During Ramadan, my school starts at 10 o`clock, so I have plenty of time at home. Mom asks me to do half-day fasting, and I can break my fasting at noon.

Aichi, Sweden and Matsuri

This is my wrap up story:

On 16-17 August I went to 2005 Aichi Expo in Nagoya. I went with Mom and Tomoko. Unfortunately Makoto did not come. We took shinkansen, the bullet train, from Tokyo Station. The trip to Aichi was tiring but fantastic. I saw mammoth, I talked to the robots, I rode the giant wonder wheel, I entered -40 celcius degree North Pole Pavillion, and I also celebrated Indonesia`s independence day in Expo Hall. I got a Japanese Flag and an Indonesian flag. But an old man who sat next to me asked me to swap his Aichi Expo pin with my Indonesian flag. Thanks to Tomoko for arranging the trip.

Back from Aichi, we celebrated Dad`s birthday. And since Dad went to Sweden for studying, I have to look after my mom, and have to do lots of thing by myself. Dad told me to be brave, be responsible and be a good boy.

On 11 September, I went to Otori-jinja matsuri. It is a kind of summer festival in Japan, where we carry the good will called mikoshi, around the neighbourhood. I wore jimbe and a japanese head-ban. I was standing in the first row with Fahmi and Rere. All of my friend in grade 2 came together.

Well, in grade 2 my teacher is Bu Mulida, and my friends are: Putri, Dilla and Tarra. During August we had Bagus. He was my friend in grade 1, but now he goes to a Japanese school. I ambusy with my works at school. I learn science, social studies, dancing, singing, math, Japanese, Indonesian Language, sports, and even cooking spaghetti!

My summer holiday

Dear diary:
On 28 June I went to Malaysia.I met my friends. My friends' name are Chinta and Caca. They live in KL. I stayed over night in their house before I flew to Jakarta. In Jakarta, I met om Ami.
Om Ami baby-sitting me when Mum and Dad went to a music concert. On 1 July, I arrived in Makassar. I was so happy to see my fatty cousin Adly and my funny cousin Dwiki and Nabil. Ooopps..I almost forget to mention Adik Rivan, who just born. I met my grandpas and my grandmas, and all family.

In Makassar I had a great fun. Then I went to Soppeng with my grandma, grandpa, Adli, and Dwiki. In Soppeng, I cried 2 times, Dwiki cried 10 times, and Adli cried 7 times. Well, we cried if we had disputes, but after all, we were back to play together.

In Makassar, Om Wawan has 2 big fish tanks, I loved to watch the fish swimming around.
I played all the time, meanwhile Mum and Dad visiting lots of poeple and did lots of shopping.

Finally, I had to go back to Tokyo. On 17 July we flew to Jakart. In Jakarta, I met my friend Casey and her parents. We had dinner.

Then on 18 July I went to Malaysia, stay overnight in Chinta and Caca's house again, visiting Petronas (unfortunately, I couldnt get a ticket to go up), hanging out around KL, before flew back to Tokyo.

I think, my summer holiday was great. Now I am back to my school, to Grade 2, I have to say bye bye to Maryam, who is leaving Tokyo for good, but I have got 2 new friends: Dila and Tara. And of course, I am still having Putri, my best friend since grade I. I am happy because Dila speaks English too, so we can have a chat at school. And the big surprise is: Bagus, my friend`in kelas I who already moved to a Japanese school, returns to study with us during summer.

Fawwaz world wrap up

Dear Diary,
It's been a long time not to write my stories. In fact, I am good and am so busy with my school. I am still struggling with bahasa Indonesia, I also learn Japanese which is so difficult for me. I also go to mengaji twice a week. I am still negotiating with Mom whether I go to piano class or violin class......life is so busy....

Happy new year everyone. It is a sad new year for our world. Our new year time has been struck by giant tsunami. Mom told me to donate all my money in the piggybank to help other children in Aceh. I saw their pictures on tv, all stories are so sad..sop many children lost their parents, homes, schools and toys......

Mom and Dad told me about the tsunami in our way back from Kyoto to Tokyo on 26 Dec, morning. I thought when he had a morning walk in Higashi Honganji, Kyoto, the giant quake and tsunami happenned. Soon when we arrived in our apartment, our eyes stucked on tv news....

Well, this january, on 11, I turned 7 years old. I think a seven years old boy should do following things:
1.mengaji
2.cleaning the dishes after lunch/dinner
3.watching news
4.doing homework without any help
5.cleaning the house
6.learn other languages (I choose Chinese and Spanish)
7.never get lost (it means I have to find a nearest police station if it happens)
8.brave to climb a high tree
9.riding a bike
10.say thank to God at anytime (Thanks God for the beautiful life I have had)

That's it for now.....I hope God bless all of us....
